GRACE AT LOW TIDE
by Beth Webb Hart
Fifteen-year-old DeVeaux is now fifty miles from the place where she
used to live--only fifty miles and five months since her blue-blood
father declared bankruptcy.
"Used to" was a graceful home in a historic Charleston neighborhood.
Country clubs, cotillions, childhood friends, and a close-knit
church group. "Now" is a run-down cottage on an island estate that
is no longer in the family. A restaurant job, a cantankerous old
truck, and mud on just about everything.
But something is wearing DeVeaux down. It's not living on the
island, which is actually kind of interesting. And it's not missing
her old friends, who have developed an annoying fixation on boys.
What really bothers DeVeaux is that being "ruined" has changed her
dad into an ill-tempered jerk, and her mother just tiptoes around
him. If the good Lord has a plan for saving them, now might be a
good time to start.
A LOVE WOVEN TRUE

South.

THE ANGEL OF BASTOGNE
by Gilbert Morris
Like the fictional George Bailey, sullen journalist Ben
Raines is not a praying man, and he has heard enough talk
about Christmas and angels. But the holiday movie classic,
"It's a Wonderful Life," seems to follow him everywhere.
Ben's aging father even has a personal "Clarence" story
about a wartime angel who saved his life one Christmas on
a battlefield in Bastogne.
In tribute to his dad, but also to prove himself right,
Ben sets out to track down the other servicemen who would
have witnessed the so-called angel. What he finds would
make a true believer out of anyone.
DAWN OF A THOUSAND
NIGHTS

their country and buoyed by the hope that they will be together
again, Dan and Libby face grueling tests on opposite sides of the

become the legendarily brutal Bataan Death March in the
Philippines. With tragedy around every corner, the couple must look
deep inside to find stamina and a faith that will endure the
nightmare of war.

BRYSON CITY TALES
by Walt Larimore, M.D.
FROM THE BOOK JACKET:
The little mountain hamlet of Bryson City, North Carolina, offers
more than dazzling vistas. For Walt Larimore, a young "flatlander"
physician setting up his first practice, the town presents its
peculiar challenges as well.
With the winsomeness of a James Herriott book, "Bryson City Tales"
sweeps you into a world of colorful characters, the texture of Smoky
Mountain life, and the warmth, humor, quirks, and struggles of a
small countrytown. It's a world where the family doctor is also the
emergency physician, the coroner, and the obstetrician, and where
wilderness medicine is part of the job, search- and-rescue calls in
the national forest are a way of life, and the next patient just may
be somebody's livestock or pet.

HEAVENS TO BETSY
by Beth Pattillo
FROM THE BOOK JACKET:
Life would be perfect for Reverend Betsy Blessing if it
weren't for parishioners who keel over during her sermons, steal
money from the collection box, and set her up with ex-cons.
Not to mention the very inconvenient feelings she is
suddenly having for her long-time friend, fellow
seminarian, and verbal sparring partner, David Swenson. It isn't
until Betsy is thrust into the position of senior minister for her
church, however, that she discovers the real cause of her
discontent: her fear of failing has become stronger than her faith
in herself.
THE RATS OF HAMELIN
by Adam McCune & Keith McCune
"The Rats of Hamelin" blends
history and fantasy to reshape the legend of the pied piper. After
six years as a piper's apprentice, Hannes sets out on the mission
that will make him a master in the guild. His orders seem simple
enough: rid Hamelin of a plague of rats and use the reward money for
a charitable cause. Simple indeed, until he discovers that the
"real" rats of Hamelin aren't the ones scurrying underfoot. Every
step he takes comes down to a deceptively simple choice: when to
show mercy...and when to bring justice.
